Tips For Essays
Here we go, essays. This might possibly be the most time consuming part of AP. During your course, you will write essays, and a lot of them. It will aggravate you, it will put you out of spending time with friends on weekends, and it will slightly stress you. (At least I'm not sugar coating it.) But hey, you are going to gain a lot of writing skills including interpreting documents, persuasion, organization, and grammar. It's kind of like working out; you can only benefit from the pain you feel today. All year I did not understand why Mr. Brock put me through all those DBQ's, CCOT's, and CC's. Yeah, that sounds foreign to you? Well, not for long. Here are some effective writing tips for your disposal when it comes time.
-The "Guatemala paper" is your best friend. It's like a sacred AP thing. Don't question, just use it
-Use all documents that are given to you, even if one doesn't make sense, you can maybe sneak your way through it if you are a distinguished bull-crapper.
-Mr. Brock, (and the person scoring your essays on the exam) likes to read transition words. Here is a list..
-Use Times New Roman, double spaced, 12 point font
-Spell numbers under 100
