So You Wanna be Successful?...
From my experience, putting AP World History as my number one priority led me to the success I achieved there; though, it is important to spread time out evenly and do well in other classes as well. It is clear that an Advanced Placement class would require quite a bit of effort compared to a general educations class. If you were guided to sign up for AP by a teacher or other school staff, there is a reason. The reason is that you are a hard working, intelligent individual that should take the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school, duh! Don't be nervous and certainly do not feel stupid if you currently do not know who Gutenberg is. You do NOT have to know a thing about World History prior to this course in order to be successful in the end. Mr. Brock will work hard to teach you everything you need to know in a way that is fun and interesting. Upon entering this class, I did not have an interest in history nor did I know much about it; now that this course is nearing the end, I have an entirely different perspective. I would like to think that I have had a successful trip through this course. If you must know the best secret to success, you will be a bit disappointed that it's totally cliche. The 'secret' is to try your best.... yep, that's it. No one but yourself will truly know if you tried your hardest, whether that means studying, taking the time to reread questions during the test, or spending an extra hour while writing the essays. Mr. Brock once said something that has remained in my thoughts for a very long time. He said something like when you do not try your best, you are being selfish. I totally agree with that, and it's something to keep in mind when doing your school work, or other things in life as well.
